  4. Tufin Orchestration Suite R24-2: Unmatched Automation, Extended Coverage, and Enhanced Compliance

Last updated September 5th, 2024 by Avigdor Book

Today’s the day: welcome to the world R24-2, Tufin’s latest release! See how we’re continuing to evolve on our mission of revolutionizing network security with unparalleled automation and compliance for Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and VMware clouds.

Said another way, this latest release is designed to enhance network security automation, compliance, and operational efficiency across the hybrid and multi-cloud environments you use – and, hopefully, love – today!

Here’s a quick look at the enhancements you’ll start seeing once you upgrade your Tufin Orchestration Suite (TOS) experience to 24-2.

Make Network Security (Even) Easier

More and more network security teams struggle with getting a complete picture of their hybrid networks. With R24-2, your security teams can extend Tufin’s automation and compliance capabilities to these environments and expand Tufin’s coverage for new or unsupported devices in a much faster timeframe.

Let’s break down the details of the release even more.

Automated Change Management

Yep, we’re taking our industry leading automation support to the next level, helping you reduce your manual efforts across Azure, GCP, and VMware cloud platforms.

R24-2’s automation capabilities streamline the processing of network access requests, minimizing manual efforts and ensuring reduced time to implement network changes and accelerated application deployment across Microsoft Azure, GCP, and VMware cloud environments.

Key features include:

  • GCP automation: automatic device selection and verification
  • Azure Firewall and NSG automation: automated change design
  • VMware NSX-T automation:Zero-touch end-end automated IPv6 change implementation

Improved Compliance

Yes, it’s possible: your organization can stay *even more* audit-ready with comprehensive change tracking, proactive risk analysis, and impact simulation, helping you maintain continuous compliance for VMWare NSX-T and Azure NSG devices.

Plus, our enhanced Rule Lifecycle Management (RLM) app is just what you’ll need for automated rule recertification.

Broad(er) Platform Support

And while we’re at it, we’ve stretched our wings a little further to extend device support for topology, compliance, and automation with Tufin’s Open Policy Model (OPM) framework—giving you the ability to rapidly integrate any additional new devices, including compliance, troubleshooting, and automation support.

Say Hey, SLAs

R24-2 also provides accurate ticket SLA calculations to save you from unjustified SLA notifications and escalations caused by tickets waiting during weekends or holidays. We’re also getting more granular with ticket time calculation measured by hours instead of days.

And we’re taking a lot of reporting pressure off of application developers with an API to customize reports and dashboards that cover those aforementioned SLAs and ticket durations.

Best of Both Worlds

So why were we so keen on making these enhancements? We saw an opportunity to expand our change automation in the cloud, via a unified platform to manage your network security access. We’ve seen and heard so many stories of network security teams grappling with getting a complete picture of their cloud environments, particularly those that rely on Azure, GCP, and VMware.

When developing this latest release, our engineering team sought to put an end to some common pain points, including:

  • Manual configuration errors: automation stepping up and stepping in to reduce human error and increase operational efficiency
  • Compliance gaps: a system – and culture – that provides continuous compliance monitoring and reporting
  • Hybrid-network visualization: a unified platform for managing network security (especially as you increasingly rely on Azure, GCP, and VMware

What Does That Mean For You (And Your Bottom Line)?

TL;DR, a more secure and efficient network environment. With this latest release, you benefit from reduced operation overhead, increased accuracy in change implementations, and enhanced compliance.

Extended network coverage means less time and effort in troubleshooting networking connectivity and maintaining compliance, while also reducing SLAs by avoiding network change errors and redo’s.

Less headache and heartache, while also being budget-conscious? See more of the technical nitty-gritty here, and/or get a first-hand look at what it’s all about and take R24-2 for a spin.
