At Tufin, we believe environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives should be more than buzzwords.
As a cybersecurity company, our industry, like many others, generates emissions using hardware, data centers, and cloud services. By taking proactive measures to offset these natural emissions, we can reduce our environmental footprint and set a positive example for the industry.
In light of being featured in this year’s Sustainable Pathways Carlyle Report, we’re excited to speak on our sustainability and social responsibility efforts.
Tufin’s Chief Financial Officer, Scott Tucker, aptly says, “ESG is not just about compliance — it’s about creating a sustainable future for all. Tufin’s ESG initiatives reflect our ongoing ambitions to impact the environment and society positively.”
Key highlights of Tufin’s ESG efforts include:
- Achieved a 10% reduction in GHG intensity, meeting our first-year target.
- Targeting over a 50% reduction in GHG intensity by 2027 compared to 2022.
- Expecting a significant reduction in carbon intensity, with over a 50% reduction by 2027.
- Implementing targeted improvements, including enhanced office energy efficiency, reduced office space, investment in an electric vehicle fleet, and renewable electricity tariffs.
- Aiming for a 100% reduction in electricity emissions for our Ohio office, a 67% reduction in the operation of company vehicles, and a 25% reduction in energy consumption in our Tel Aviv and Boston offices by 2027.
Beyond that, Tufin’s commitment to ESG is demonstrated through initiatives like TufinCares, which spurs external action that benefits our customers, partners, and the broader community while actively promoting social responsibility.
As one example, our Boston office recently partnered with Boston Harbor Now and dedicated hours to cleaning up the harbor to significantly improve the surrounding area’s cleanliness.
A Culture of Sustainability: From the Top-Down
Our journey towards sustainability began with our co-founder and board member, Ruvi Kitov, who sought out an environmentally conscious office in Israel.
Our Israeli office boasts gold LEED certification; achieving LEED certification involves rigorous standards and an in-depth evaluation process, ensuring that our office meets the highest benchmarks for green building.
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a globally recognized certification that signifies a building’s commitment to sustainability in several key areas. These include energy efficiency, water usage, air quality, and materials selection, all of which aim to minimize the environmental impact.
“I have always believed that our responsibility extends beyond driving business success,” says Ruvi. “At Tufin, we are committed to positively impacting our environment and society through our various ESG initiatives. Doing so aligns with our mission to protect digital and physical environments.”
